May 1st is a holiday so we’ve had a couple days off. Today Matt, the Pi’s and I went to the Beijing Botanical Gardens. We traipsed around looking for the Bamboo Garden. Found it. Then found an even better Bamboo Garden. Then we saw the Tulips! So. Many. Tulips! Beautiful tulips. It was a lot of fun to spend the day with them. :)
Today the school took us on a trip to one of the most beautiful spots in Beijing. Shilin Xia. It was a lot of fun hiking around, seeing the waterfalls and being in nature for once! We see a lot of city so it’s nice to see trees every once in a while too. We hiked for a long time and then took a lift up even higher. It was kind of rainy and cloudy but the temperature was good. On the way down my legs were shaking from all the walking but I made it home. :)
Anna and Lauren come over on Thursdays to learn how to cook! It’s fun for all of us. :) Anna wasn’t able to stay today but Lauren did and we made some chocolate chip pancakes. She made one in a Mickey Mouse shape! They were delicious. :)
Today I went to Yuyuantan Park. It was so pretty! The cherry trees were blossoming like crazy and there were a lot of people out on the lake in boats. It was a beautiful day for a day at the park. :)
Friday, I still had enough sauce and cheese to make another pizza with Angel! It was her first time having pizza and she really liked it!
Sometimes I love grading. :)
I’ve been trying for weeks to get Anna and Lauren to come over!! Finally Anna texted me and said they wanted to come over and learn how to cook something. So they came over and I taught them how to make pizza. :) It was… delicious. They’re great and we had an awesome time.
Took Megan to the airport on Easter morning. :(
Got together with my Shi Yi team for an Easter Sunday team picture. :)
Saturday we had English club for the Senior students. We did an Easter egg hunt, fed them some delicious sloppy joes, told them the Easter story and taught them how to dye eggs. Megan and I made the sloppy joe meat. It was pretty delicious and a lot easier to make than I thought it was going to be. After English Club, Meg and I went up to West Point to do some shopping. I bought some dishes outside Bon Jour. Can’t wait until I have my own house to put them in. :)
Friday, Megan came to my classes with me! My first one was at 8am. Yay. I taught about Easter! I think it went well. :) Then I had my lesson planning meeting with James before my next class at 11:40. Megan also joined Angel and I for our usual Friday lunch. Since it was such a beautiful day and my apartment was such a mess, Megan and I made a picnic to have with Angel in the school garden. Beautiful day for that! We had a good time. That night we went out to eat to celebrate James’s birthday! We went to a New Orleans styled restaurant called “Nola” It was soooooo good… I had the chicken and dumplings. They were amazing. Then we came back to Shi Yi and had dessert and of course watched American Idol. :) Amazing.
